Port de Pollença is about as far from Palma airport as most holidaymakers go: a broad, shallow bay at the island's northern tip, with the Formentor peninsula on one side and the Tramuntana mountains behind. There is no airport bus that goes all the way. You can still do it by public transport for under €11, but it takes a change and some timetable reading, especially around the end of October.

Before you ride

Buying tickets in Palma

Palma's airport is served by EMT city bus A1 to the centre and Plaça d'Espanya, plus A2 to S'Arenal along the Platja de Palma beaches, with single fares around €5 paid on board. TIB regional buses also depart for towns across Mallorca. Paying by contactless bank card or the Intermodal transport card is noticeably cheaper than cash, with discounts of up to about 40% on single fares in 2026. Buy the Intermodal card at machines if you plan multiple journeys; otherwise tap your card as you board.

Arrive safe

Taxi scams & safety in Palma

Take taxis only from the official rank outside Arrivals; Palma airport taxis are metered with a set airport starting supplement, and a ride into central Palma is usually a short, moderate fare. Avoid anyone offering a "cheaper" private lift inside the terminal, as unlicensed transfers are the main issue here. App-based ride-hailing is limited on the island: Uber generally does not operate, while Cabify availability is patchy, so the metered rank or pre-booked licensed transfers are the dependable choices.

Getting around

Step-free access in Palma

Mallorca's public bus network is set up for wheelchair users on both the city and island services.

  • EMT city buses in Palma and the TIB inter-urban buses serving the rest of the island are wheelchair accessible.
  • Wheelchair-accessible vehicles with ramps or lifts can be booked in advance for transfers, which is the dependable option for the resorts where bus frequency drops off out of season.

Palma airport itself runs a disability assistance service; request it through your airline when you book.

Getting from PMI to Port de Pollença

Sixty-six kilometres and a choice of routes

By road the trip is straightforward: the Ma-19 and Palma ring road, then the Ma-13 motorway north past Inca to the Sa Pobla and Alcúdia exits, and finally the coast road into the port. Mytransfers measures it at about 66 km, and in a car it takes around 55 minutes outside rush hour. Public transport has to work around one fact: TIB's airport lines to the north stop at Port d'Alcúdia and Can Picafort, not Pollença.

That leaves two bus routes worth considering, plus the taxi rank and the pre-booked options.

Route one: via Palma on the A1 and the 301

The cheaper option starts with EMT line A1 from the airport to Plaça d'Espanya, where the Estació Intermodal is underground. The A1 runs every 15 minutes from 05:30, with departures into the small hours. EMT charges €5 cash on airport lines, but paying by contactless bank card cuts that by 40%, to €3.

From the Estació Intermodal, TIB line 301 runs to Port de Pollença roughly hourly. The current timetable shows the first departure from Palma at 06:00 and the last at 21:40, taking about 80 minutes via Inca, Sa Pobla and Pollença town. TIB's fare calculator gives €5.40 by bank card or €9 in cash. In total that is about €8.40 by card and around two hours including the change, or €14 if you pay cash for both.

Route two: north on the A32, then the 322

Until 31 October 2026, TIB's seasonal line A32 runs from the airport to Port d'Alcúdia and Can Picafort, with departures from 07:55 until 23:10 and a final bus at 00:05. It reaches Port d'Alcúdia in about an hour. There, line 322 runs to Port de Pollença every 25–30 minutes from early morning until after 23:00, a ride of about 20 minutes along the bay.

TIB's calculator gives €8.10 by bank card (€13.50 cash) for the A32 and €2.70 by card (€4.50 cash) for the 322, so roughly €10.80 by card. It is a little dearer than the Palma route but often faster, and the A32's late departures cover evening flights that the 301 does not.

From 1 November the A32 gives way to the winter line A33, which also runs to Port d'Alcúdia. TIB had not published the winter A33 timetable when this page was checked, so confirm it before relying on a winter connection.

The meter on a long run

Mallorca's 2025 taxi tariff, published by Palma's mobility office, charges €2.50 to start and €1.20 per kilometre on weekdays from 07:00 to 21:00, rising to €2.85 and €1.35 at night, at weekends and on holidays, plus a €4.65 airport supplement. For 66 km that gives about €87 by day and €97 at night, before any supplement for five or more passengers. Taxis queue at the signed rank on the ground floor outside arrivals.

Booking ahead on the long haul north

Private transfers to Port de Pollença are quoted at about €95 (Mytransfers) to €118 (Suntransfers) for a car. On a trip this long the attraction is a known number before you land, with the driver tracking the flight so a delay does not leave you at the rank at midnight. Shared shuttles start at about €18 per person, but expect several drops around Alcúdia first; on this run they can take close to two hours.

Matching the route to the traveller

  • Light luggage, daytime, lowest cost: A1 plus 301, about €8.40 by card.
  • Evening landing before midnight, until 31 October: A32 plus 322.
  • Family or group: the rank or a pre-booked car; per person it beats several sets of bus fares.

Whichever you choose, pay by contactless bank card on both EMT and TIB buses: the savings are large, and on TIB the discount increases with each extra passenger on the same card.

Heading back to the airport

The 301 leaves Port de Pollença for Palma from about 06:05, roughly hourly, and connects with the A1 at Plaça d'Espanya. For an early flight that chain is tight, so many visitors in the port book a taxi or transfer for the return even if they arrived by bus. Leave at least two and a half hours before departure if you use public transport.
