Larnaca International Airport ground transport
Larnaca handles most flights into Cyprus and sits unusually close to the town it's named after โ five kilometres, past the salt lake and the Hala Sultan Tekke mosque, and you're on the Finikoudes seafront. That proximity makes the airport unusual: the cheapest way into town is a normal city bus rather than a dedicated airport service, and it costs a couple of euros. For everywhere else, Cyprus has built a coach network specifically around this terminal. The Kapnos Airport Shuttle runs to Nicosia for about โฌ9 and out to Ayia Napa for about โฌ13, while the separately-operated Limassol Airport Express covers the run west for โฌ10 adult and โฌ5 child. Both are proper coaches with luggage holds, timed loosely around arrival banks rather than a fixed clock-face timetable, so check the day's departures against your landing slot. Taxis wait outside arrivals and work either on the meter or, more commonly for resort runs, on a quoted fixed price โ Ayia Napa and Protaras both land in the โฌ60โ70 range, Nicosia around โฌ70, Limassol anywhere from about โฌ48 pre-booked to โฌ86 on the meter. The one number worth memorising is 20:30: that's when the night tariff starts, lifting the flag-fall and the per-kilometre rate, and a great many charter flights into Larnaca land after it. Pre-booked transfers are correspondingly popular. Car hire is heavily used too, but remember Cyprus drives on the left and rental cars wear red plates, which locals read as a cue to give you room. This guide compares what each option actually costs and takes for the destinations people search from LCA.
