Uber, Lyft and metered taxis all leave from the LAX-it lot near Terminal 1, reached by a free shuttle from every terminal; taxis charge a flat ~€54 to Downtown LA and metered fares (roughly €45-70) elsewhere, while ride-hail is often ~€30-70 depending on surge. The FlyAway bus runs to Union Station and Van Nuys for ~€11.70 one-way every 15 minutes, and for door-to-door comfort private transfers and shared shuttles serve Disneyland and the wider region. Buying tickets in Los Angeles
The LAX/Metro Transit Center opened in June 2026, linking the airport to the Metro C and K light-rail lines. Ride the free airport shuttle (from the green LAX-it/shuttle signs on the lower Arrivals level) to the station, then take the train; the base fare is US$1.75. Pay with a TAP card, a TAP card in Apple Wallet, or — since May 2026 — a contactless credit/debit card tapped straight at the gate. The FlyAway bus runs nonstop to Union Station and accepts TAP and contactless payment.
Taxi scams & safety in Los Angeles
Taxis and rideshare do not pick up at the terminal curb. Instead, walk or take the free shuttle from the green LAX-it signs (outside baggage claim, lower Arrivals level) to the LAX-it lot beside Terminal 1, where licensed taxis and Uber/Lyft/app pickups are organised. Use only the official taxi queue there; decline anyone inside the terminal offering a ride, as these are unlicensed touts. Confirm the taxi is metered before leaving, and match your rideshare car's plate to the app.
Step-free access in Los Angeles
Los Angeles is a driving city, but the two public options out of LAX are both accessible.
- FlyAway buses are wheelchair accessible, and staff will help with boarding. They run to Union Station and other points across the city.
- Metro connections from the airport are accessible; the LA Metro rail network is step-free with lifts at stations.
Given the distances involved here, a pre-booked accessible vehicle is often the more practical choice than assembling a bus-and-rail journey — worth pricing before you assume the transit route is the cheaper one after a long flight.
