LAX finally joined the rail age in 2026: the LAX/Metro Transit Center opened in June 2026 and is served by Metro's C Line and K Line, reached today by the free LAX Metro Connector Shuttle that runs every ~10 minutes from the Lower/Arrivals level of each terminal, with the long-awaited Automated People Mover (APM) phasing into service through 2026 to eventually replace that shuttle with a direct 6-station train to the terminals, rental-car centre and economy parking. Metro fares are a flat ~€1.60 with free transfers for two hours, making rail by far the cheapest way in — although journeys usually need one or two changes and can take 60-100 minutes. Uber, Lyft and metered taxis all leave from the LAX-it lot near Terminal 1, reached by a free shuttle from every terminal; taxis charge a flat ~€54 to Downtown LA and metered fares (roughly €45-70) elsewhere, while ride-hail is often ~€30-70 depending on surge. The FlyAway bus runs to Union Station and Van Nuys for ~€11.70 one-way every 15 minutes, and for door-to-door comfort private transfers and shared shuttles serve Disneyland and the wider region. Driving times in LA swing wildly with traffic, so treat every duration as a '~' range.
