Hurghada International Airport ground transport

HRG is Egypt's busiest Red Sea airport, handling charter and scheduled holiday traffic from across Europe. The resorts spread out along a single coastal highway: Sahl Hasheesh and Makadi Bay lie ~20-30 km south, El Gouna ~35-40 km north, and Soma Bay and Safaga ~50-60 km down the coast. There is no rail link and no useful scheduled airport bus, so the practical choices are three. A pre-booked private transfer is the default for package and independent travellers alike — a fixed price per car, arranged before you fly, with the driver waiting inside the arrivals hall. Many hotels and tour operators bundle a shuttle into the holiday, either a shared minibus or a private car, so check your booking before paying for anything separately. Local taxis wait on the forecourt for anyone travelling independently, but they run on negotiation rather than a meter: settle the fare in euros or pounds before the doors close, or you risk paying double. Ride-hailing apps barely function in Hurghada, so do not count on Uber here. For the long inland run to Luxor (~300 km, 4-4.5 hours each way across the desert road via Safaga), most people take a guided day tour or a private car with driver; a cheaper GoBus coach runs from the town's central station rather than the airport. This page compares price, time and frequency for Hurghada's most-searched destinations.
