Menara is one of Morocco's busiest airports yet unusually close to the sights it serves — the medina walls are barely 6 km away. The cheapest link is the ALSA L19 airport bus (30 MAD one-way, ~€3, or 50 MAD return), which loops from the terminal past Hivernage to Jemaa el-Fnaa, the train station and Guéliz roughly every 30 minutes from about 06:00 to 21:30, paid in cash on board. The airport's official taxis are beige grand taxis waiting outside arrivals; a fixed municipal tariff of 100–150 MAD applies to the medina by day and 150–240 MAD at night, but they rarely run the meter and are well known for quoting tourists more, so agree the number before the car moves and insist on the posted rate. Pre-booked private transfers remove that haggling for ~€15–20 and track your flight. One quirk shapes every medina arrival: the old town is a maze of car-free derb alleys, so any vehicle stops at the nearest gate or square and a riad porter (or a short walk with a wheeled bag) finishes the trip.
