Hamad International Airport ground transport

DOH is a single large terminal with the Metro station built into it, between Concourses B and C on the arrivals level. The driverless Red Line reaches the airport via a branch off Oqba Ibn Nafie and connects it to Msheireb (downtown), West Bay, Katara, Lusail and Al Wakra; a single journey is QR2 once you buy a rechargeable QR10 Travel Card from the station machines, and trains run roughly every 5-8 min from ~06:00 to ~23:00 (later on weekends). For anything the Metro does not reach directly, free Metrolink feeder buses connect several Red Line stations to nearby districts such as The Pearl and Katara. The teal Karwa taxis (operated by Mowasalat) are the only vehicles permitted to pick up from the arrivals kerb; they run on a meter with a QR25 airport pickup charge and a QR10 surcharge from 22:00-06:00, so central Doha lands around QR40-70. Uber operates in Qatar but must collect from the designated ride-hail area rather than arrivals — Careem shut its Qatar service in 2023, so it is no longer an option. Karwa also runs 24/7 public buses (routes L533, T612, T613) into the city for a few riyals using a Karwa Smart Card, and pre-booked Karwa Limousine or private firms offer fixed-price transfers. This guide compares price, time and frequency to the destinations travellers ask about most.
