Tenerife South, still signed as Reina Sofía, handles the great majority of the island's holiday flights and sits deliberately close to the resort belt it was built to serve. That geography does most of the work for you: Los Cristianos is about 15 km up the TF-1 motorway, Playa de las Américas and Costa Adeje follow within 20 km, and even in traffic none of them takes much over half an hour. The north is a completely different proposition — Santa Cruz, La Laguna and Puerto de la Cruz are 60 to 85 km away across the island, which is why TITSA runs the 343 as a limited-stop express rather than making you sit through every village. TITSA's green guaguas leave from the stops directly outside arrivals; line 111 is the workhorse south artery, the 450 shuttles the local stretch between San Isidro and Costa Adeje roughly every half hour, and the 711 covers the small hours when everything else has finished. Buy a tenmás card for €2 and top it up if you'll ride more than twice: it takes roughly 20% off short hops and up to 30% off the long northern runs, and it works on every TITSA bus. Taxis queue at a marshalled rank outside the terminal and run on the meter with a night supplement from 22:00, which is worth knowing if your charter lands at 01:00 as so many do. Pre-booked transfers and resort shuttles are heavily used here because a huge share of arrivals are package travellers with cases, buggies and a hotel address rather than a street they know. Car hire is enormous at TFS and genuinely useful if Teide, Masca or the north coast are on your list — the island rewards driving far more than most Canary resorts do.
