Faro Airport ground transport
Faro Airport has no rail link of its own; the closest station is in Faro city, roughly 4 km away, reached first by bus or taxi. The everyday airport buses are run by Próximo/Vamus: line 16 loops into central Faro in about 20 minutes for a couple of euros, and in summer (May–October) the Aerobus lines 56 and 57 head straight west down the coast to Albufeira, Lagoa, Portimão and Lagos. For most other towns you change at Faro's bus terminal onto an EVA Transportes intercity coach. Because a single public journey to a resort often means two or three legs and a long wait, a lot of holidaymakers instead pre-book a private transfer, grab a metered taxi at the rank, use Uber or Bolt, or pick up a hire car at the terminal — self-driving is especially common in the Algarve. - Bus line 16 connects the airport with the train station and the city centre and is wheelchair accessible — the buses have ramps and space for a wheelchair.
- Local taxis include vehicles fitted with ramps and room for a wheelchair or an electric scooter.
For the resort towns along the Algarve, adapted private transfers are the practical choice; the intercity coaches do not reliably offer step-free boarding.
