Split Airport ground transport
Split Airport handles roughly 3.5 million passengers a year from a single compact terminal, and its location matters more than most: it sits between Kaštela and Trogir, so the old harbour city of Trogir is a short bus hop away while Split's old town is a 25 km drive east. The workhorse public link is the official airport shuttle, run by Platanus since it took over the route from Pleso Prijevoz on 1 February 2026 — coaches leave about 30 minutes after each arriving flight, cost around €8-9, and terminate at Split's main bus station right beside the ferry port, a five-minute walk from Diocletian's Palace. Budget travellers instead cross the car park to the main road and catch Promet Split city bus 37, which shuttles between Trogir and Split past the airport for a few euros, though it stops often and drops you at Split's suburban Sukoišan terminal rather than the centre. For door-to-door travel, Uber and Bolt both operate here (~€20-35 to the old town), traditional airport taxis run ~€30-50, and pre-booked private transfers offer a fixed price. Croatia uses the euro, so there is no currency to change. Crucially, the big island destinations are not road trips: to reach Hvar Town or Bol on Brač you first get to Split's ferry port, then board a Jadrolinija or Krilo catamaran. An honest note on this one: Split does not publish the level of detail that larger airports do, so treat what follows as guidance rather than a guarantee.
- The number 37 local bus (Trogir–Split, passing the airport) is the most frequent public service, roughly every 20 minutes on weekdays and Saturdays. Step-free boarding depends on which vehicle turns up, and that is not published in advance.
- Split's main bus station sits next to the ferry port and the train station, and the ground around it and into the old town is largely flat — so once you are in the city, moving between the port, the Riva and the centre is manageable.
- Carrying a wheelchair in the luggage compartment is not charged.
If you need certain step-free transport from the airport, a pre-booked accessible transfer is the only way to be sure. Confirm the vehicle with the operator when you book rather than on the day.
