Buying tickets in Prague

A 90-minute DPP ticket costs 50 CZK on paper, or 46 CZK in the PID Lítačka app (2026), and covers the bus plus metro and trams. Buy from machines or the yellow terminal kiosks, or use the app; contactless works. Validate paper tickets in the yellow machine the moment you board the bus. Important: the separate Airport Express (AE) to the main station is not covered and costs 200 CZK.
Taxi scams & safety in Prague
Prague airport transfers carry real risk. Drivers who approach you inside arrivals routinely quote 1,500-2,500 CZK, two to three times the fair price; a legitimate ride to the centre is around 600-800 CZK. Uber holds the official airport taxi concession, but the cheapest and safest move is to open Bolt (or Uber) in the arrivals hall and walk to the marked ride-hail pickup. Never take an unsolicited "official" taxi. On public transport, ride only with a validated ticket, as inspectors issue steep fines.
Step-free access in Prague
Prague has no rail link to the airport, so everything starts with a bus — and the buses are the accessible part.
- The airport services are low-floor, so boarding is step-free. Trolleybus 59 (which replaced bus 119 in March 2024) runs to Nadrazi Veleslavin on metro line A; bus 100 runs to Zlicin on line B.
- Both of those metro stations are wheelchair accessible and have lifts, so the bus-to-metro transfer works without steps.
- Most city buses in Prague are low-floor and take wheelchairs and pushchairs.
Note that not every metro station in the centre has a lift, so check your destination station rather than assuming the whole network matches the airport route.
