Buying tickets in Dalaman
Dalaman is a resort airport with no train or metro. Public transport is the Havaş shuttle bus, which meets flights outside arrivals and runs to Fethiye and Marmaris otogar (bus stations) roughly every 90 minutes; the municipal Muttaş bus also serves those centres. There is no travel card. Buy your seat from the Havaş desk or on board, where card payment is normally accepted. For villages and hotels off the main route, a pre-booked private transfer or a metered taxi is the realistic option.
Taxi scams & safety in Dalaman
Because most arrivals are package tourists, the main risk is taxi drivers quoting inflated flat fares for the long runs to Fethiye, Ölüdeniz or Marmaris. Use the official taxi rank outside the terminal and ask for the meter, or pre-book a fixed-price transfer so the total is agreed in writing. Ignore anyone approaching you inside the hall with a car. The Blue Lagoon that launched a million postcards sits at the foot of a plunging mountain road, about 65 kilometres and an hour and a quarter from Dalaman Airport, and there's no train, no direct bus, no clever shortcut. What there is instead is a choice between doing it the slow, romantic way and doing it the sensible way. Both of them end at the same impossible turquoise water.

\However you travel, the last stretch is the same, and it is worth arriving awake for: the road climbs out of Fethiye and then corkscrews down towards the coast, the lagoon flashing between the pines and, on a clear afternoon, paragliders spiralling off the summit of Babadağ high above you. It's roughly 80 minutes' driving from the terminal, longer in July and August when the resort traffic thickens and the switchbacks slow everyone to a crawl. If you can, sit on the right coming down — the view earns the seat.

\If you're counting every lira, the coast can still be reached on the cheap; it just asks for patience. The Havaş airport coach runs to Fethiye's Otogar, and from there a dolmuş grinds up and over to Ölüdeniz. Figure on somewhere between €6 and €9 all told, and a journey that can nudge past 90 minutes once you've waited for the connection. It's fine if you're young, light and unhurried; it's purgatory with a suitcase the size of a surfboard and a fresh sunburn. The Havaş timetable also shadows the flight schedule rather than running like clockwork, so a late landing can mean a long sit on a plastic seat.

- Arriving after dark, skip the bus plan — the dolmuş network thins out in the evening, while taxis and transfers run whatever the hour. \
Whatever you choose, the payoff is identical: that first, faintly unreal glimpse of the lagoon as the road tips downhill — a payoff for every minute of getting there.
Getting back up the hill
One detail the outbound journey hides: Oludeniz sits at the bottom of a long descent from Fethiye, and the road back up is the same set of hairpins in reverse. Dolmus services run frequently through the day in season and thin out sharply in the evening, so an early dinner in Fethiye with a late return is a plan that needs checking rather than assuming. Taxis wait at the beach end of the main strip and the fare back up is modest, but on a July evening the queue after sunset is real. If you are staying in Hisaronu or Ovacik on the slope above, note that these are separate villages with their own stops — asking for Oludeniz when you mean Hisaronu costs you a climb at the end of a long day.
