Platja de Muro is the long, pine-backed beach on the Bay of Alcúdia, with the S'Albufera wetlands directly behind the hotels. Birdwatchers come in spring, cyclists in autumn, families in summer. In season it has one of the best direct bus links from Palma airport of any northern resort, but that service is seasonal, and its end date falls at the close of October.

Before you ride

Buying tickets in Palma

Palma's airport is served by EMT city bus A1 to the centre and Plaça d'Espanya, plus A2 to S'Arenal along the Platja de Palma beaches, with single fares around €5 paid on board. TIB regional buses also depart for towns across Mallorca. Paying by contactless bank card or the Intermodal transport card is noticeably cheaper than cash, with discounts of up to about 40% on single fares in 2026. Buy the Intermodal card at machines if you plan multiple journeys; otherwise tap your card as you board.

Arrive safe

Taxi scams & safety in Palma

Take taxis only from the official rank outside Arrivals; Palma airport taxis are metered with a set airport starting supplement, and a ride into central Palma is usually a short, moderate fare. Avoid anyone offering a "cheaper" private lift inside the terminal, as unlicensed transfers are the main issue here. App-based ride-hailing is limited on the island: Uber generally does not operate, while Cabify availability is patchy, so the metered rank or pre-booked licensed transfers are the dependable choices.

Getting around

Step-free access in Palma

Mallorca's public bus network is set up for wheelchair users on both the city and island services.

  • EMT city buses in Palma and the TIB inter-urban buses serving the rest of the island are wheelchair accessible.
  • Wheelchair-accessible vehicles with ramps or lifts can be booked in advance for transfers, which is the dependable option for the resorts where bus frequency drops off out of season.

Palma airport itself runs a disability assistance service; request it through your airline when you book.

The full guide

Getting from PMI to Platja de Muro

From the runway to the dunes

Platja de Muro is a strip of hotels along the Ma-12 coast road between Port d'Alcúdia and Can Picafort, about 60 km from Palma airport. The drive is motorway almost all the way: the Ma-13 north past Inca, then across the plain to the bay. Allow about 50 minutes by car. The hotels face the sea on one side of the road; the S'Albufera natural park, with its reed beds and boardwalks, lies on the other.

The A32: one bus, no changes, card or cash

TIB's airport line A32 runs from the Aeroport – Arribades stop through Inca and Alcúdia to Port d'Alcúdia, then along the whole length of Platja de Muro to Can Picafort. In the airport-to-resort direction it calls at Ciutat Blanca, Estany dels Ponts, Platja dels Francesos, Las Gaviotas, Ses Fotges, Los Troncos, S'Albufera and Els Pins, so most hotels have a stop within a few minutes' walk.

The current timetable, valid from 22 July to 31 October 2026, has airport departures at 07:55, 08:35, 09:15 and then roughly every 45–60 minutes until 23:10, with a final bus at 00:05. The timetable shows it reaching Las Gaviotas about 70 minutes after leaving the airport. Some journeys are marked express, which means they only carry passengers to or from Inca and the airport; that makes no difference if you are riding from the airport to the resort.

The fare difference between payment methods is large. TIB's calculator gives €13.50 in cash, or €8.10 with a contactless bank card, and the card discount increases for each extra traveller paying with the same card, down to €5.40 for the fifth. A family of four tapping one card pays noticeably less than four cash fares.

After 31 October

The A32 is a summer service. From 1 November TIB runs the winter line A33 instead, which, on TIB's route map, ends at Port d'Alcúdia and does not continue along Platja de Muro. The winter timetable had not been published when this page was checked. If you are arriving in November or later, plan on a taxi from Port d'Alcúdia for the last few kilometres, or a car from the airport.

Taxi fares on the island tariff

Mallorca's 2025 taxi tariff (Decree 20/2025) is €2.50 plus €1.20 per kilometre on weekdays from 07:00 to 21:00, and €2.85 plus €1.35 per kilometre at night, at weekends and on holidays, with a €4.65 airport supplement. Over 60 km that works out at roughly €79 by day and €88 at night; parties of five or six pay a €3 supplement. Take cars only from the signed rank outside arrivals.

Booked cars, shared shuttles and bikes

One local detail helps when choosing a hotel: the long beach has no single centre, and the stop names on the A32 (Las Gaviotas, Ses Fotges, Los Troncos) are taken from hotels and old landmarks rather than streets. Look up which stop is nearest your hotel before you board and press the bell in good time.

Pre-booked private transfers start at about €95 (Mytransfers) and go up to about €118 (Suntransfers) for a car. That is above the meter, so the reason to book is the vehicle: cyclists bringing bike boxes in autumn, or families needing two child seats, can order exactly what they need rather than hoping the next taxi has room. Shared shuttles cost from about €20 per person and serve hotel doors, but with several drops along the bay.

Which way for whom

  • Arriving before 1 November with normal luggage: the A32, paid by bank card.
  • Bike boxes or lots of gear: a pre-booked van.
  • Winter arrival or after the 00:05 bus: the taxi rank or a pre-booked car.

Going home

The A32 runs back towards the airport from Can Picafort through Platja de Muro from as early as 03:50, which suits early morning departures; the first bus passes Las Gaviotas a few minutes after it starts. Check the season before counting on it, because the same 31 October cut-off applies in both directions.
