Across the Vistula from Kazimierz, the old industrial quarter of Zabłocie holds Oskar Schindler's enamel works, now a museum of wartime Kraków, along with the former ghetto streets of Podgórze. It is also one of the easiest parts of the city to reach from the airport, because a train station sits a few hundred metres from the factory gate.

Buying tickets in Kraków

Train (SKA1, Koleje Małopolskie): 20 PLN to any station named Kraków (Główny, Grzegórzki, Zabłocie, Płaszów and others), 24 PLN to Wieliczka Rynek-Kopalnia. Luggage travels free; dogs cost 3 PLN. You can buy tickets from the ticket machine on board (cash or card), from the conductor (cash or card), at the Koleje Małopolskie ticket point at the airport (08:10–19:45, cash and card), on the Koleje Małopolskie website, or through the KOLEO and Jakdojade apps.

City and agglomeration buses (lines 209, 300, night 902): buy your ticket before you board, either from the machine in the arrivals hall on level 0 or from the machine at the bus stop (cash or card). Since 2 March 2026 the main fares are 4 PLN for 15 minutes, 6 PLN for a single trip or 30 minutes, 8 PLN for 60 minutes and 9 PLN for 90 minutes. A 24-hour ticket for zone I+II+III costs 25 PLN. Validate your ticket in the reader as soon as you board. Reduced fares are half price, but they apply only to people entitled to them under Polish rules.

Long-distance coaches (FlixBus, RegioJet, Neobus and others) leave from bus shelter 2 near the terminal footbridge. Book with the operator; prices change with demand.

Arrive safe

Taxi scams & safety in Kraków

Kraków Airport Taxi (MPL Services) is the only official taxi service at the airport. Its cars wait at the covered rank right outside the terminal, 24 hours a day. They are black or silver (white if electric), and every car has a card terminal. The zone fares are fixed maximums by distance from the airport: 29 PLN up to 2.9 km, 49, 69, 89, 109 and 129 PLN up to 18.9 km, 149 PLN up to 22.9 km and 169 PLN up to 27 km. They are the same at any hour and on any day. For anything beyond 27 km, agree the price with the driver before you set off; it must not exceed 8 PLN per km. A second drop-off is charged on the meter, and waiting costs 35 PLN per hour.

The zone map is published only as an illustration. Most Old Town and Kazimierz addresses fall into the 109–129 PLN bands, so if a driver quotes much more for a city address, ask which zone he is using. Turn down anyone in the arrivals hall offering a ride who is not part of the official rank or a transfer you booked in advance. To book by phone, call +48 12 258 0 258 or +48 668 307 307 (call centre open 06:00–22:00).

Getting from KRK to Podgórze & Schindler's Factory (Kraków Zabłocie)

A station built where the factories were

Zabłocie was where Kraków's light industry stood, on the right bank of the river south-east of the Old Town. Schindler's Emalia works at ul. Lipowa 4 was one of many small plants here. In the early 1940s, the Jewish workers he employed came here from the Podgórze ghetto, a few streets to the west. Today the factory houses the Museum of Kraków's exhibition on the occupation, the neighbouring buildings hold the MOCAK contemporary art museum, and the surrounding warehouses have become flats, offices and cafés.

The railway that served those plants now carries the airport train. Kraków Zabłocie is the second stop after Kraków Główny on the SKA1 line, and the platforms are roughly 350 metres from the Emalia building, a five-minute walk.

Airport to Zabłocie by SKA1

Trains leave Kraków Airport station, behind the multi-storey car park and reached by a covered footbridge, at 17 and 47 minutes past the hour for most of the day. Through trains towards Wieliczka take about 25 minutes to Zabłocie: the 08:17, for example, arrives at 08:42. The fare is 20 PLN, the flat rate Koleje Małopolskie charges from the airport to any station named Kraków, and luggage goes free. You can buy a ticket from the machine on board (cash or card) or from the conductor.

Check that your train is going beyond Główny. Departures at 21:47, 00:07, 00:57 and 01:47 terminate there, and so does any short working shown as Kraków Główny on the board. The trains listed to Wieliczka Rynek-Kopalnia all call at Zabłocie. Out of the station, it is a short walk along Lipowa to the factory.

By road

The official Kraków Airport Taxi charges fixed fares by distance zone. Zabłocie is around 19 km from the terminal by the city route, which sits on the line between the 129 PLN band (15–18.9 km) and the 149 PLN band (19–22.9 km). The fare is fixed before you leave the rank and does not change with traffic or time of day, and cards are accepted. If you are staying in one of the converted warehouse aparthotels on Zabłocie's riverside, a car is the easiest way to arrive with luggage.

Booked transfers for the Kraków city area started at about 155 PLN for a saloon on Suntransfers on 21 October 2026, a little dearer than the rank. The advantage is that the driver tracks your flight and waits if you are delayed, which helps on a late evening arrival when you do not want to be standing at the rank.

Bus? Not really

Express bus 300 is the cheapest way into Kraków at 6 PLN, but its route ends on the wrong side of the river at Os. Podwawelskie. From Rondo Grunwaldzkie you would face about 2.5 km on foot to the factory. For this destination the 14 PLN extra for the train is well spent.

If you come straight from the plane to the museum

  • The airport's left-luggage lockers are currently suspended, according to the airport's own services page, so you cannot leave a case at the terminal. Drop bags at your accommodation first or arrange storage in the city.
  • The Emalia exhibition is one of the city's most visited, so check the Museum of Kraków's ticketing before you land rather than turning up and hoping.
  • Plac Bohaterów Getta, with its memorial of empty chairs, and the surviving stretch of ghetto wall on Lwowska are a short walk west and fit easily into the same visit.

Heading on to Kazimierz or the centre

From Zabłocie you can walk into Kazimierz over the Bernatka footbridge in about 15 minutes, past the riverside boulevards. To get back to the main station, take the next SKA1 train in the other direction, which is about 5 minutes. Coming back to the airport, the same trains run to Kraków Lotnisko roughly every half hour. Buy the ticket at the station machine or on board, and allow about 25 minutes plus your check-in time.

The choice in one line

For one or two people with manageable bags, take the train to Kraków Zabłocie: 20 PLN and about half an hour, gate to museum. For a group, heavy luggage, or a hotel deep in the riverside blocks, the fixed 129–149 PLN taxi fare is fair value.
