Taxi scams & safety in Kraków
Kraków Airport Taxi (MPL Services) is the only official taxi service at the airport. Its cars wait at the covered rank right outside the terminal, 24 hours a day. They are black or silver (white if electric), and every car has a card terminal. The zone fares are fixed maximums by distance from the airport: 29 PLN up to 2.9 km, 49, 69, 89, 109 and 129 PLN up to 18.9 km, 149 PLN up to 22.9 km and 169 PLN up to 27 km. They are the same at any hour and on any day. For anything beyond 27 km, agree the price with the driver before you set off; it must not exceed 8 PLN per km. The zone map is published only as an illustration. Most Old Town and Kazimierz addresses fall into the 109–129 PLN bands, so if a driver quotes much more for a city address, ask which zone he is using. Getting from KRK to Energylandia (Zator)
Is the park open when you land?
Check this before anything else. The main 2026 season opened in mid-April, and tickets on the park's ticket partners are valid until 31 October 2026. The park's own calendar shows standard 10:00–18:00 days in the autumn, with themed Halloween dates and some closed days. A separate Winter Kingdom season runs later in the winter. If you are flying in during November, look at the calendar on energylandia.pl before you book anything else.
Train: one change, and a station at the park
From the airport, take the SKA1 to Kraków Główny (17 minutes, at :17 and :47 most of the day). Then catch a Koleje Małopolskie train on the Oświęcim line that calls at Zator Park Rozrywki, the stop for the park. In the late-October 2026 timetable these leave Kraków Główny roughly hourly from 04:04 until 22:50 and take about 65–74 minutes. Two convenient mid-morning ones on weekdays are the 08:35, arriving 09:49, and the 09:15, arriving 10:21. With the change, allow a little under two hours from the airport kerb.
Buy one through ticket from Kraków Lotnisko to Zator Park Rozrywki. It is about 61 km by rail, which costs 26.50 PLN under Koleje Małopolskie's airport tariff, against 35 PLN for an airport ticket plus a separate Kraków–Zator one. Children and other eligible passengers get the statutory reductions shown in the same tariff. The station sits right by the park, a short walk from the entrance.
For the trip back, trains from Zator Park Rozrywki towards Kraków run into the late evening, with the last weekday departure at 22:35, reaching Kraków Główny at 23:42. On rides-until-closing days, check the last one before you join the queue for one more coaster.
By car or taxi
The road route is about 44 km, roughly 45 minutes, via the A4 west and local roads south to Zator. Kraków Airport Taxi's zone fares stop at 27 km, so this one is agreed with the driver before setting off and capped at 8 PLN per km under the operator's tariff, about 355 PLN maximum one way. With children, ask about child seats when you agree the fare; the fleet includes vans for up to seven.
A pre-booked transfer means child seats can be arranged in advance and the driver tracks your flight. Kiwitaxi listed Kraków–Zator transfers from about US$102 (around 397 PLN) on 21 October 2026, which is in line with the taxi ceiling. The park's own access page also lists local Zator taxi firms, which are handy for the return trip if you are staying at one of the park hotels.
Family logistics
- Bags: the airport's left-luggage lockers are currently suspended. If you are heading to the park on arrival day, you will either be carrying the cases or need a car to hold them. For a hotel stay at Zator, go there first.
- Buggies on the train: SKA1 trains have at least 138 seats and dedicated spaces for passengers with reduced mobility, which are also useful for prams. The change at Kraków Główny is between platforms in the same station.
- Which train: not every Kraków–Oświęcim train stops at the park. In the current timetable the ones that call at Zator Park Rozrywki run via Skawina, while the faster 30xxx trains to Oświęcim take another route. Check that Zator Park Rozrywki is listed among the stops before you board.
- Timing: on a 10:00 opening day, the 08:35 from Kraków Główny gets you there just before the gates open. From the airport that means catching the 07:47 SKA1 or earlier, since the 08:17 reaches Główny only a minute before.
Cost for a family of four
Four adult through tickets on the train come to about 106 PLN, and children's reduced fares bring it down. A pre-booked car at around 397 PLN, or a taxi at up to 355 PLN, costs more but gets you there an hour sooner with the bags in the boot. For two parents and two children with luggage, many families will think the car worth the difference.
Which to choose
For a budget day out with light bags, take the train via Kraków Główny to Zator Park Rozrywki. For arrival day with suitcases, young children or a hotel booked at the park, a car is simpler.
