The airport train calls at Kraków Grzegórzki, on the district's north-eastern edge, six minutes after Główny, and the fare is the same 20 PLN. From there Plac Nowy is about ten minutes' walk.

Before you ride

Buying tickets in Kraków

Train (SKA1, Koleje Małopolskie): 20 PLN to any station named Kraków (Główny, Grzegórzki, Zabłocie, Płaszów and others), 24 PLN to Wieliczka Rynek-Kopalnia. Luggage travels free; dogs cost 3 PLN. You can buy tickets from the ticket machine on board (cash or card), from the conductor (cash or card), at the Koleje Małopolskie ticket point at the airport (08:10–19:45, cash and card), on the Koleje Małopolskie website, or through the KOLEO and Jakdojade apps.

City and agglomeration buses (lines 209, 300, night 902): buy your ticket before you board, either from the machine in the arrivals hall on level 0 or from the machine at the bus stop (cash or card). Since 2 March 2026 the main fares are 4 PLN for 15 minutes, 6 PLN for a single trip or 30 minutes, 8 PLN for 60 minutes and 9 PLN for 90 minutes. A 24-hour ticket for zone I+II+III costs 25 PLN. Validate your ticket in the reader as soon as you board. Reduced fares are half price, but they apply only to people entitled to them under Polish rules.

Long-distance coaches (FlixBus, RegioJet, Neobus and others) leave from bus shelter 2 near the terminal footbridge. Book with the operator; prices change with demand.

Arrive safe

Taxi scams & safety in Kraków

Kraków Airport Taxi (MPL Services) is the only official taxi service at the airport. Its cars wait at the covered rank right outside the terminal, 24 hours a day. They are black or silver (white if electric), and every car has a card terminal. The zone fares are fixed maximums by distance from the airport: 29 PLN up to 2.9 km, 49, 69, 89, 109 and 129 PLN up to 18.9 km, 149 PLN up to 22.9 km and 169 PLN up to 27 km. They are the same at any hour and on any day. For anything beyond 27 km, agree the price with the driver before you set off; it must not exceed 8 PLN per km. A second drop-off is charged on the meter, and waiting costs 35 PLN per hour.

The zone map is published only as an illustration. Most Old Town and Kazimierz addresses fall into the 109–129 PLN bands, so if a driver quotes much more for a city address, ask which zone he is using. Turn down anyone in the arrivals hall offering a ride who is not part of the official rank or a transfer you booked in advance. To book by phone, call +48 12 258 0 258 or +48 668 307 307 (call centre open 06:00–22:00).

Getting from KRK to Kazimierz (Plac Nowy)

Get off at Grzegórzki, not Główny

The SKA1 trains that run beyond the main station call next at Kraków Grzegórzki, a newer stop raised above Grzegórzecka street. That puts you on the north-eastern edge of the old Jewish quarter, around 700 metres from Plac Nowy. The ride from the airport takes about 23 minutes, and because every station named Kraków costs the same 20 PLN from the airport under the Koleje Małopolskie tariff, you pay nothing extra for staying on. From the platform, head south down Starowiślna or one of the parallel streets past Dietla, and you are among the bars and synagogues around Szeroka and Józefa in about ten minutes.

The catch: not every train goes that far. The 21:47 from the airport terminates at Główny, and so do the three after-midnight runs. Most departures from 04:17 to 23:17 continue towards Wieliczka and call at Grzegórzki. If yours ends at Główny, a taxi from the rank there is a short hop, or you can walk about 20 minutes down Starowiślna.

The cheap way: bus 300 and a walk over the river

Express bus 300 runs from the stop outside the terminal every ten minutes through the day, from early morning until 23:42, and reaches Rondo Grunwaldzkie in about 24 minutes. A 30-minute ticket at 6 PLN covers it. Buy it at the machine in the arrivals hall or at the stop, and validate it on board. Rondo Grunwaldzkie is the big junction at the Dębniki end of Grunwaldzki Bridge. Walk across the bridge, past the Manggha centre and over the Vistula. On the far side you are in Kazimierz's western streets, and Plac Nowy is about a kilometre from the stop. With a rucksack it is a pleasant walk along the river. With two large cases it is a long kilometre.

What the taxi costs here

Kraków Airport Taxi charges by distance zone, and its illustrative zone map puts Kazimierz in the 15–18.9 km band, a fixed 129 PLN. Addresses further south-east, towards the river bend, can tip into the next band at 149 PLN. The fare does not change after dark. That matters in a district people tend to reach late: for a midnight arrival, the taxi is the same price as at noon. Cars wait at the covered rank outside the terminal, and every one takes cards. Kazimierz's inner streets are narrow, and some, such as Szeroka, are partly pedestrianised, so expect to be dropped at the nearest corner.

Pre-booking makes sense for groups

The case for a booked transfer is the vehicle size, not the price. A minivan for six or eight people with all their bags is something the taxi rank cannot always produce at once. Suntransfers listed private cars from about 35.59 EUR (roughly 155 PLN) and minivans from about 39.85 EUR (about 174 PLN) for the city on 21 October 2026, while Kiwitaxi quoted about 240 PLN. For two people the 129 PLN rank fare is cheaper. For a stag group or a family of six, the booked minivan wins.

Late flights, small hours

Kazimierz is where many people head for a late dinner or a drink, and the late transport works well for it:

  • Until 23:17 most airport trains continue past Główny and call at Grzegórzki.
  • At 00:07, 00:57 and 01:47 the trains stop at Kraków Główny. From there, walk about 20 minutes down Starowiślna or take a taxi from the rank.
  • Night bus 902 runs from the terminal to Dworzec Główny Wschód at 23:21, 00:16, 01:16, 02:16, 03:16 and 03:51, taking about 32 minutes.
  • The official airport taxi runs 24 hours at 129 PLN.

A note on picking your stop when booking a flat

Kazimierz is long and thin, so which stop to aim for depends on which end you are staying at. North and east of Miodowa, closer to Starowiślna, Grzegórzki station is the obvious target. Down by the river and the Wawel end, around Krakowska or Józefa, bus 300 to Rondo Grunwaldzkie leaves you nearer. Across the river in Podgórze, the next train stop, Kraków Zabłocie, is closer still. Check the street on a map before you land, and pick the stop rather than the route.

Summary for the impatient

Take the train to Grzegórzki for 20 PLN and about 33 minutes door to door if you are travelling light. Take bus 300 for 6 PLN and a 15-minute walk if you are on a tight budget. Take the airport taxi at 129 PLN for two or more with bags, or for anything after midnight.
