Gran Canaria Airport to Amadores
Amadores is about 50 km from Gran Canaria Airport. Global's direct line 91 stops at Playa de Amadores for about €5.45–5.90 in roughly 45–50 minutes; a taxi takes about 40 minutes for €73–83.

Amadores is the sheltered, man-made crescent just west of Puerto Rico, with pale sand and a promenade of hotels climbing the cliff behind. It is one of the easier south-west resorts to reach by public transport, because the express bus from the airport stops right above the beach. The only real decision is whether the bus suits your luggage and your landing time.

Buying tickets in Las Palmas
There is no train on Gran Canaria. Two bus operators matter: Global runs the green intercity guaguas including every airport line, and Guaguas Municipales runs the yellow city buses inside Las Palmas only. Airport routes are line 60 to Las Palmas (€2.30 to San Telmo, €2.95 to Santa Catalina), line 66 south to San Agustín, Playa del Inglés (€3.50) and Faro de Maspalomas (€4.05), and the 91 express west to Puerto Rico (€5.45) and Puerto de Mogán (€6.80); line 90 is a second, semi-direct option south to Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas. These are single-ticket fares and can be paid on board.
Taxi scams & safety in Las Palmas
Gran Canaria's airport is straightforward and taxi fraud is uncommon: cars are metered, the rank sits directly outside arrivals, and rates are regulated. Join the official queue rather than going with anyone who approaches you in the hall. Expect roughly 20% more at night and at weekends — that is the published surcharge, not a driver inventing a number. Because the airport sits between the capital and the resorts, the most common genuine mistake is not a scam at all but taking the wrong bus terminus: line 60 ends at two different points in Las Palmas, four kilometres apart, so check which one serves your hotel before boarding. For car hire, inspect and photograph the vehicle before leaving and confirm what the excess actually is.
Step-free access in Las Palmas
Gran Canaria is an Aena airport, so the free Barrier-Free (Sin Barreras) service is the same one you get at every Spanish mainland airport.
- Request assistance at least 48 hours before departure when you book with your airline or travel agent. You can also book through the Aena website, the Aena app or by calling +34 91 321 10 00.
- Be at the meeting point at least two hours before departure. Report to your airline's check-in desk or press the call point at a signposted meeting point. On arrival, wait on board and staff will come to you.
- Staff go with you from the meeting point to your aircraft seat, through check-in, security and boarding, and on arrival from the aircraft through baggage reclaim to your chosen meeting point.
- Accessible toilets are located throughout the terminal, and Aena issues a hidden disabilities badge for passengers whose needs are not visible.
- Neither Aena nor the Global bus company states the accessibility of the airport buses. Check with Global (+34 928 252 630) before you rely on lines 1, 5, 11, 36 or 60.
Getting from LPA to Amadores
The road to the calm bay
Amadores lies about 50 km from Gran Canaria Airport, reached by the GC-1 motorway south and then the coast road past Arguineguín and Puerto Rico. The last few minutes are a climb and a drop around the headland into the bay, which is protected by breakwaters and is noticeably calmer than the open beaches further east. By car it is roughly 40 minutes; the express bus takes a little longer because it serves Arguineguín and Puerto Rico first.
Line 91: the express that stops above the beach
Global's line 91 runs from Las Palmas (Santa Catalina and San Telmo) to Puerto de Mogán, calling at the airport express stop and then at Casa Memo, Arguineguín, Patalavaca, Puerto Rico, Escuela de Vela, Gloria Palace Amadores and Playa de Amadores. Every journey on the published timetable serves Amadores, which is not true further west.
Departures from Santa Catalina run from 05:55 to 21:00, roughly every half hour in the morning and hourly through the afternoon and evening, every day of the week. Global lists times from Las Palmas, so add about half an hour for the bus to reach the airport. From there, reckon on 45–50 minutes to Playa de Amadores.
Fares come from Global's fare finder: €5.45 from the airport to Puerto Rico and €5.90 to Tauro, the next zone west. Amadores sits between the two, so expect to pay one of those figures; the driver will charge the correct zone.
Two slower buses worth knowing
On weekday daytimes, some line 90 journeys from Telde call at the airport and run via Playa del Inglés and Faro de Maspalomas to Playa del Cura, stopping at Amadores on the way. They are useful only if a 91 has just left. In the evening, line 1 from San Telmo (last departure 23:30) also stops at the airport and at Playa de Amadores, taking the long coastal route; it is the safety net for flights that land after the last 91.
Stepping off at Amadores
The Playa de Amadores and Gloria Palace Amadores stops are on the road above the bay. Hotels on the cliff are at the same level or above, but apartments down by the promenade mean a descent with your case, either by the steep street or by lifts in some complexes. If your accommodation sits on the beach level, ask whether it has a lift from the road before you choose the bus.
By taxi: what the tariff gives
The official tariff posted by Aena for the airport is €3.85 plus €1.35 per kilometre between 06:00 and 22:00, and €4.25 plus €1.55 for each kilometre after 22:00 and on holidays; the airport adds €2.10. That puts Amadores at about €73 in daytime and €83 at night, for up to four people. The rank is outside the terminal; join the queue rather than accepting offers in the hall.
Booking a car or a seat
Pre-booked private transfers are quoted at about €66 (Mytransfers) to €86 (Suntransfers) for a car. Booking ahead brings one practical advantage here: the price is set before you fly and does not rise at night, which matters with so many flights from northern Europe landing late in the evening. For a couple the daytime taxi and a booked car are close; for four with luggage, either beats four bus fares only on comfort, not price.
Shared shuttles run from about €13 per person. Amadores comes after Puerto Rico on the usual loop, so it is mid-way through the drops.
Quick verdict
- Daytime, light luggage: the 91, at under €6.
- Late evening: line 1 if you can wait, otherwise the rank.
- Price fixed in advance, any hour: a pre-booked car at about €66–86.
For the return, the 91 picks up at Playa de Amadores on its way back to Las Palmas via the airport, with departures from Puerto de Mogán from 05:55 until 22:15.
