Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport to Valencia (city centre)
Valencia is about 175 km from Alicante airport, with no direct bus or train. Take the C-6 (€4.70) into Alicante, then a train (about 2 hours) or the Alsa coach (€18.97). A car takes about 1 hour 50 minutes.

This guide sets out both, what they cost together, and when a hire car or a night in Alicante makes more sense than a €260 taxi.

Buying tickets in Alicante
C-6 to Alicante: a single costs €4.70 (from 24 July 2026). Buy it for the trip on board, or as a QR ticket in the Vectalia app. Vectalia also sells a 10-trip bono at €8.10, which is of interest mainly to residents.
Alsa coaches (Benidorm, Altea, Calpe, Dénia, Jávea, Murcia): buy in the Alsa app, at the Alsa sales point in the airport, or on board where the service allows it. Cash is accepted only at Alsa sales points, ticket machines and on the bus. Cards, PayPal and Apple Pay work in the app. The basic fare includes one suitcase in the hold (20 kg on Básica). If a flight delay makes you miss your coach, Alsa will move you to its next service free of charge within 12 hours; arrange this at the airport sales point or by phone.
Costa Azul to Torrevieja: €7.00 one way, sold online through the operator's sales page (regular.autobusing.com), which also handles changes and cancellations.
Elche R11/R10: Elche urban fare, €1.35 ordinary single in 2026.
All scheduled buses board on Level 2 (Departures). Arrivals passengers need to go upstairs first.
Taxi scams & safety in Alicante
The only taxis licensed to pick up at the airport rank are Elche taxis from Radio Taxi Elche (about 85% of the fleet) and Servitaxi Elche. They are white with a green stripe along the side and the Elche coat of arms on the front doors. The rank is outside arrivals on Level 0. Radio Taxi Elche has an information point in the arrivals hall, open 09:00–01:00.
Fares are metered. Trips within Elche use the city tariff (2026: €1.77 flag fall and €1.01/km on tariff 1). Longer trips use the regional interurban tariff (2026: €2.25 plus €1.46/km, or €2.80 plus €1.68/km on the special rate). An airport supplement is added: Aena states €4.25, and Elche's 2026 ordinance sets €4.55. Tolls are charged on top. Rough guides: central Alicante €24.50–27, Benidorm €83–99, Torrevieja €66–76.
- Ignore anyone in the arrivals hall offering a ride who is not at the rank or holding your booking.
- For long trips (Calpe, Dénia, Murcia, Valencia), ask for an estimate before you set off, or pre-book on the operators' websites, where the price is shown in advance.
- If you have pre-booked a taxi through an operator, Servitaxi Elche explains that the driver must still run the meter by law, but you pay the agreed booking price.
- Ask for a receipt (recibo). It shows the licence number if you need to complain or trace lost property.
Step-free access in Alicante
Aena runs the "Sin Barreras" (Barrier Free) assistance service for passengers with reduced mobility at Alicante-Elche. Request it at least 48 hours before your flight through your airline or travel agent, the Aena website or app, or by phone on +34 91 321 10 00 (07:00–00:00) or email at [email protected].
- Signposted meeting points are located inside and outside the terminal, including the car park, the arrivals forecourt and the check-in area.
- On departure, be at a meeting point at least 2 hours before the flight. An assistant takes you through check-in, security and boarding to your seat.
- On arrival, staff help you leave the aircraft, collect your luggage if needed, and take you to the meeting point you choose.
Getting from ALC to Valencia (city centre)
First, the geography
Valencia has its own airport at Manises, so anyone flying into Alicante for Valencia has usually found a cheaper fare, a better flight time, or a route Manises does not offer. That can be a good trade, as long as you plan for the distance: about 175 km by motorway, roughly an hour and three-quarters by car. There is no direct public bus or train from Alicante-Elche to Valencia. Every public option starts with the C-6 bus into Alicante, followed by either a train from the main station or a coach from the bus station.
Stage one: C-6 into Alicante
Vectalia's C-6 boards one floor above arrivals, at the departures-level bays, and runs 24 hours a day. In the daytime there is a bus every 11–12 minutes. The single fare is €4.70 (since 24 July 2026). The bus calls at Alicante bus station on the way in, and Vectalia's timetable notes that passengers from the airport can stay on past Puerta del Mar to the RENFE station (Alicante-Terminal). Allow 30–40 minutes for this stage to either station, and more at rush hour.
Stage two, option A: the train
Alicante–Valencia is a well-used rail corridor, and several operators share it. Renfe runs Euromed, Intercity and Media Distancia regional trains, and high-speed operators such as Ouigo and iryo also sell tickets on the route. Ticket aggregators list the fastest journeys at just under two hours and slower regional trains at around two and a quarter hours. Fares vary with how early you book. The lowest advertised prices start at about €12, and turn-up fares on faster trains cost considerably more. Check renfe.com and the other operators for your date; we have not been able to confirm a fixed 2026 fare. Trains arrive at Valencia Joaquín Sorolla or Estació del Nord, depending on the service, and both are close to the city centre.
For most travellers this is the best public option. The journey time is predictable, there is room for luggage, and departures run from early morning to evening.
Stage two, option B: the Alsa coach
Alsa's line L710 (Alicante – (Gandia) – València) leaves from Alicante bus station, which is a stop on the C-6. The official fare table gives €18.97 for Alicante–Valencia. The most recent timetable PDF on Alsa's site shows seven departures on weekdays between 07:00 and 18:00 and five at weekends, with a scheduled journey time of about 2½ hours on the direct runs and longer when the coach goes via Gandia. That timetable was first issued for an earlier winter season, so check the current times in the Alsa app before you travel. The coach rarely beats the train, but it helps when trains are sold out or very expensive, and it drops you at Valencia bus station.
Costing it out
- C-6 + Alsa coach: €4.70 + €18.97 = €23.67 per person at published fares, about 3–3½ hours in total.
- C-6 + train: €4.70 plus the rail fare, which can come in under the coach total if booked early. About 2½–3 hours in total, including the change.
- Taxi: on the regional interurban meter (2026: €2.25 plus €1.46 per km, or €2.80 plus €1.68 per km on the special rate) 175 km comes to roughly €260 before the airport supplement and tolls.
- Private car: long-distance transfers are usually priced near the taxi meter or a little below it. Ask for a quote with tolls included.
Driving yourself
All the main car-hire firms have desks on Level 0 at Alicante-Elche, and on this route hiring a car is genuinely worth considering. A one-way rental to Valencia airport or the city usually carries a drop-off fee, but for two or three people it can cost less than a taxi. The A-7/AP-7 and the A-31/A-35 alternatives are both straightforward, and the drive is under two hours outside the Friday-evening rush around Valencia.
Arriving late
Trains and coaches to Valencia stop running in the evening. The last coaches in the published timetable leave Alicante at 18:00 on weekdays and 19:00 at weekends. If you land late, the realistic options are a night in Alicante, which the 24-hour C-6 makes easy, and an early train the next morning, or a taxi or private car booked in advance. If your plane lands after about 20:00, staying a night in Alicante is usually cheaper than a 175 km taxi.
