Buying tickets in Alicante
C-6 to Alicante: a single costs €4.70 (from 24 July 2026). Buy it for the trip on board, or as a QR ticket in the Vectalia app. Vectalia also sells a 10-trip bono at €8.10, which is of interest mainly to residents.
Alsa coaches (Benidorm, Altea, Calpe, Dénia, Jávea, Murcia): buy in the Alsa app, at the Alsa sales point in the airport, or on board where the service allows it. Cash is accepted only at Alsa sales points, ticket machines and on the bus. Cards, PayPal and Apple Pay work in the app. The basic fare includes one suitcase in the hold (20 kg on Básica). If a flight delay makes you miss your coach, Alsa will move you to its next service free of charge within 12 hours; arrange this at the airport sales point or by phone.
Costa Azul to Torrevieja: €7.00 one way, sold online through the operator's sales page (regular.autobusing.com), which also handles changes and cancellations.
Elche R11/R10: Elche urban fare, €1.35 ordinary single in 2026.
All scheduled buses board on Level 2 (Departures). Arrivals passengers need to go upstairs first.
Taxi scams & safety in Alicante
The only taxis licensed to pick up at the airport rank are Elche taxis from Radio Taxi Elche (about 85% of the fleet) and Servitaxi Elche. They are white with a green stripe along the side and the Elche coat of arms on the front doors. The rank is outside arrivals on Level 0. Radio Taxi Elche has an information point in the arrivals hall, open 09:00–01:00.
Fares are metered. Trips within Elche use the city tariff (2026: €1.77 flag fall and €1.01/km on tariff 1). Longer trips use the regional interurban tariff (2026: €2.25 plus €1.46/km, or €2.80 plus €1.68/km on the special rate). An airport supplement is added: Aena states €4.25, and Elche's 2026 ordinance sets €4.55. Tolls are charged on top. Rough guides: central Alicante €24.50–27, Benidorm €83–99, Torrevieja €66–76.
- Ignore anyone in the arrivals hall offering a ride who is not at the rank or holding your booking.
- For long trips (Calpe, Dénia, Murcia, Valencia), ask for an estimate before you set off, or pre-book on the operators' websites, where the price is shown in advance.
- If you have pre-booked a taxi through an operator, Servitaxi Elche explains that the driver must still run the meter by law, but you pay the agreed booking price.
- Ask for a receipt (recibo). It shows the licence number if you need to complain or trace lost property.
Step-free access in Alicante
Aena runs the "Sin Barreras" (Barrier Free) assistance service for passengers with reduced mobility at Alicante-Elche. Request it at least 48 hours before your flight through your airline or travel agent, the Aena website or app, or by phone on +34 91 321 10 00 (07:00–00:00) or email at [email protected].
- Signposted meeting points are located inside and outside the terminal, including the car park, the arrivals forecourt and the check-in area.
- On departure, be at a meeting point at least 2 hours before the flight. An assistant takes you through check-in, security and boarding to your seat.
- On arrival, staff help you leave the aircraft, collect your luggage if needed, and take you to the meeting point you choose.
Getting from ALC to Murcia (city)
Across the regional border
Murcia has its own airport at Corvera, but Alicante-Elche has far more routes, and many people heading for Murcia city, its university campuses or the hospitals fly in here. The trip is about 75 km south-west along the A-7, leaving the Valencian Community near Orihuela and crossing into the Región de Murcia. It is an easy drive of under an hour. Unusually for this airport, a direct coach does the trip in about the same time.
The direct Alsa service
Alsa runs a non-stop coach from the airport to Murcia, and Aena gives the journey time as 55 minutes. The timetable updated on 1 August 2026 shows these departures from the airport:
- Every day: 09:15, 10:15, 11:15, 12:15, 13:15, 15:15, 16:15, 17:15, 19:15 and 20:45.
- Monday to Saturday only, in addition: 18:15 and 22:15.
Arrival times are listed at about 55 minutes after departure (10:10, 11:10 and so on; 21:45 for the 20:45; 23:10 for the 22:15). There is a gap at 14:15, with no departure that hour, so a flight landing around 13:45 faces a wait. The timetable sheet calls the Murcia end simply "Murcia". Confirm the exact stop in the Alsa app when you book.
Alsa's Valencian fare table does not cover this line, because it is a state-licensed route between two regions. Ticket aggregators currently show fares from about €5–6 one way, and we could not confirm an official figure. Check the price in the Alsa app, where you can also buy the ticket. As at every Alsa stop at this airport, the coach boards from the bays on Level 2, the departures floor, across the road from check-in. If a late flight makes you miss your booked coach, Alsa's airport policy allows a free change to the next available service within 12 hours.
Who the coach suits
Students going back to the University of Murcia, people visiting relatives, and anyone travelling alone with one case. At around €6 against a three-figure taxi fare, the saving is large. It is less convenient for families with lots of luggage, or for anyone going on from Murcia to the Mar Menor or a village in the huerta, where a second journey is needed.
Taxi across two regions
The official airport taxis (Radio Taxi Elche and Servitaxi Elche) will take you to Murcia, and the trip is charged on the Valencian interurban tariff. For 2026 that is €2.25 to start and €1.46 per km on the ordinary rate, or €2.80 and €1.68 per km on the special rate, plus the airport supplement. Over roughly 75 km that comes to about €115–135, depending on the time of day and exactly where you are going. The taxis wait at the rank outside arrivals on Level 0. They are white cars with a green stripe and the Elche crest. For a trip this long, ask the driver for an estimate before you set off, or pre-book through Radio Taxi Elche's website and see the fare in advance.
A booked car: fixed price at any hour
A pre-booked private car means the price does not change if your flight is two hours late or lands after midnight. Long-distance sellers on this airport usually price near the taxi meter. Expect quotes of roughly €100–130 for a standard car, and compare two or three before booking. This is the sensible choice for a late arrival, as the last coach leaves at 22:15 from Monday to Saturday and at 20:45 on Sundays.
Night and Sunday arrivals
Sunday evening is the weak point: the 20:45 is the last coach. After that it is the taxi rank, a pre-booked car, or a night near the airport or in Alicante. The C-6 bus runs to Alicante 24 hours a day, and the first Murcia coach next morning leaves the airport at 09:15.
Going the other way
For the return trip, the same timetable shows departures from Murcia to the airport from 07:00. On weekdays they run roughly hourly to 20:00, with each trip timetabled at 50 minutes. If your flight leaves early in the morning, the 07:00 (arriving 07:50) is the earliest public option, which rules out most departures before about 10:00.
