Chloraka is the village just north of Paphos where the town's hotel strip gives way to villas, apartment blocks and a long-stay crowd who return every winter. It is close to the airport by car, but the bus needs a change at the Tombs of the Kings station. For anyone staying weeks rather than days, the cheap route is worth learning.

Buying tickets in Paphos

Paphos is the island's smaller airport and its public transport is correspondingly thin: two OSYPA (Pafos Buses) routes, both €2 paid on board by day and up to €3.50 between 21:00 and 04:00, luggage included. Route 612 runs through Kato Paphos to the Tombs of the Kings bus station in about 30 minutes, with 17 departures a day from the airport (07:30–01:00), roughly every 40–80 minutes. Route 613 goes to Karavella bus station in the upper town (Ktima) in about 40 minutes, with 12 departures a day from the airport (05:50–00:00). Everywhere beyond Paphos itself means changing at Karavella onto an intercity service. Check the board on your way out of arrivals: if the next 612 is an hour away, the rank outside is the realistic option.

Arrive safe

Taxi scams & safety in Paphos

Taxis from the rank are licensed, and indicative fares are roughly €35–45 into Paphos, €50–65 to Coral Bay and €90–120 to Polis or Limassol. A night rate applies late in the evening, so agree the fare and ask which rate you are being charged before setting off. Buses only reach Paphos town itself, so book ahead if you land late or are heading to a villa outside town. Cyprus drives on the left and hire cars carry red number plates. One contractual point worth knowing: standard rental agreements generally forbid the unsurfaced track to Lara Bay on the Akamas, and driving it voids the insurance — take a licensed jeep tour instead.

Getting around

Step-free access in Paphos

Pafos is compact and the accessible options are genuinely usable rather than theoretical.

  • Pafos International is fully accessible for passengers with reduced mobility, with assistance on request.
  • Cyprus runs special buses with low-gradient ramps, safety belts and air conditioning, plus taxis adapted to carry a passenger seated in a wheelchair.
  • Specialist transfer companies operate wheelchair-accessible vehicles with tail lifts or ramps from the airport to the resorts.

The Kapnos shuttle between Pafos and Larnaka airports is also wheelchair accessible if you are connecting between the two.

Getting from PFO to Chloraka

A village that many people stay in for months

Chloraka sits on the coast road north of Kato Paphos, about 21 km from Paphos Airport, between the Tombs of the Kings area and Kissonerga. Much of the accommodation is self-catering: apartments, villas and complexes let by the month in winter. That matters for transport, because long-stay visitors tend to arrive with more luggage than a fortnight's holidaymaker and care more about the price of repeat journeys.

The drive is simple: west on the B6 and the coast road past Geroskipou, through or around Paphos, then north along Tombs of the Kings Avenue. About 25 minutes in normal traffic.

The bus: 612 to the Tombs of the Kings, then 615

OSYPA, which runs Pafos Buses, operates two airport routes. For Chloraka you want route 612, which runs from the airport through Timi, Geroskipou and along Poseidonos Avenue in Kato Paphos to the Tombs of the Kings bus station, opposite McDonald's. It runs year-round, every day, with airport departures at 07:30, 08:50, 10:10, 11:20, 12:30, 13:50, 14:50, 15:40, 17:00, 17:40, 18:20, 19:40, 20:20, 21:20, 22:20, 23:40 and 01:00.

At the Tombs of the Kings station, change to route 615, which runs up Tombs of the Kings Avenue and the coast road through Chloraka and Kissonerga to Coral Bay. In the daytime it leaves every 10–15 minutes; in the evening, from April to November, it runs every 20 minutes until 23:40, with later buses at 00:15 and 00:40 (every 30 minutes until midnight from December to March).

Each leg is a separate ticket. OSYPA's posted fares are €2 one way, or €3 after 21:00, bought from the driver, so the trip costs €4 in the daytime and up to €6 at night. The Cyprus Mail's airport guide puts the total journey at 60–90 minutes depending on the connection.

Fares for longer stays

If you are staying for weeks, OSYPA's day ticket (€6.50) and personalised weekly and monthly passes, from €25 and €50, are sold at the main bus stations including Tombs of the Kings, which is where you change anyway. The 615 runs often enough between Chloraka and Paphos to use instead of a hire car for town trips.

Where to get off

The 615 runs the length of Chloraka along Tombs of the Kings Avenue and the coast road, so the walk at the end depends on which part you are staying in: the newer blocks near the Paphos end or the older village up the slope. Check the nearest stop on a map before you board and press the bell in good time. If the village centre is your base, the walk up from the coast road is short but steep.

Taxi and private transfer

Taxis wait outside the arrivals hall at all hours. The Cyprus Mail's September 2026 guide gives €45–55 for a taxi or private transfer to Chloraka. Online quotes for a pre-booked car are in the same range: about €50 on Mytransfers and €57 on Suntransfers for up to four passengers. With a sedan's worth of luggage and two or more people, that is the comfortable choice, and the pre-booked car has the advantage of a set price whatever time the plane lands.

Shared shuttle seats are sold from about €15 per person on Suntransfers, with a door drop-off. For a solo traveller that sits between the bus and a taxi.

Choosing with luggage in mind

  • One bag, daytime: 612 and 615, €4.
  • Winter let with several cases: a taxi or booked car, about €45–57.
  • Solo with a case and no rush: a shared shuttle from €15.

Late flights

The last 612 leaves the airport at 01:00, and in summer the last 615 from the Tombs of the Kings is at 00:40, so a midnight arrival may miss the connection even if the first bus is running. Late arrivals are better off at the rank or with a pre-booked car. Coming back, the 615 runs from Chloraka to the Tombs of the Kings and the 612 departs for the airport from 06:50; give the change plenty of time before a morning flight.
