If you like the idea of arriving with your wallet fully loaded and untouched, the MRT is your friend. From Changi Airport MRT station you hop on the East-West Line, but there is a small catch that trips up first-timers: this is not a single straight shot. You change at Tanah Merah, then make a second transfer once you reach the city — City Hall is the classic spot — to swing onto the North-South Line that runs up to Orchard itself. Two changes sounds fiddly, but the signage is impeccable and the whole trip clocks in at around 45 minutes.
